Fall, is that you??

google

Today, my pretties, I will be focusing my Pinteresting Wednesday on fall pleasures. Since tomorrow is the first day of September, I think it is time.
First up, I have some super cute outfits for fall.

Next I have some fall time goodies and other such foods that make me feel warm and cozy.

(penne with roasted asparagus and balsamic butter)

(maple glazed apple cookies)

(apple, brie, and pecan Panini)

(pumpkin twinkies with lemon filling)

(ranch house crock pot pork chops with parmesan mashed potatoes)
That is all I have to pin about fall right now, since I can’t exactly get the feeling of the cool morning fog and the smell of falling leaves onto pinterest. But I’m sure my fellow fall lovers out there know EXACTLY what I’m talking about.
Have a good Wednesday my little lovelies, halfway to the long weekend!!!

A look inside my mind.

Well my friends, I find myself sitting here at lunch with 25 minutes before I have to go back, with no book to read (look for my review of Lies Chelsea Handler Told Me on Friday), so I have decided to delight you with some of my current random thoughts.

  • I am thinking about doing all of my grocery shopping online and having food delivered to my doorstep. Some may call this lazy. I, however, call it GENIUS. I have this problem where I drive to the grocery store, spend 45 minutes in there, and come out with $200 of garbage. I seriously will get, oh, 45% of the stuff on my list, and then fill my cart up with junk, such as candy, soda, various bottles of wine, frozen chicken nuggets (shaped like dinosaurs, might I add), chips, bagels, and 16 pounds of cheese. This is not helping me lose weight, not one little bit. Unless you count the fact that I end up walking from one end of the store to the other about 8 times per trip because I realize that I have forgotten something that I need on the other end of the store, so I have to haul my ass from the produce section back to the bakery to get the 4 assorted donuts that sound really good. You see my issue, I hope. This is why I am not only going to start taking advantage of costco ordering at work, but also going to start shelling out the $9.95 it will cost to have regular groceries delivered from Safeway. I will save that much EASILY by not shopping with my stomach, as well as not driving there.
  • The next thought running through my head is how annoying it is that school started back up again. Normally, I wouldn't care, because I will have to deal with way fewer screaming children in my workspace. However, since my office is located a block away from both the local high school AND middle school, this leads to extra traffic in the morning. Couple this with the construction going on along my preferred route to work, and it leads to me being late. And since my boss has requested that I stop clocking in 2 minutes late so frequently, this is just going to throw a bigger wrench in my morning hustle and bustle.
  • I have noticed that I have way more clothes in my closet that could be used as workplace attire than I ever realized. I tend to consider myself as having 3 or 4 different clothing genres: work, casual, comfy (sweats, etc), and workout clothes. However, I have recently realized that my casual clothes can be converted to be appropriate for work. Take the dress I am wearing right now. Purple, strappy, knee length... looks great with flip flops. However, throw a tank top underneat (so you can't see the girls so clearly), and little cardigan over the top, and some black flats, and you have yourself a modern loan officer outfit. AMAZING.
  • The other thing going through my mind right now is puppies. Now, you all remember the awful story about the puppy that Chad and I were going to adopt, correct? If not, you should read about it here and have some tissues ready. Well, rumor has it, that good old Texas has been frequenting the yard of that rhodesian ridgeback and getting a little bit frisky. Which means that the possibility of another litter of puppies is getting quite high. Which brings me a large amount of joy because, although I think it is irresponsible for these people to not get their dog spayed and allow her to run around like a little hussy, I really REALLY want to get a puppy from them. Stay tuned to find out if I get lucky.
That's all I have to say for now, especially because I only have 11 minutes left of my lunch time, so i should probably try to get a jump start on my posts for the rest of the week. I hope you are all having a good Tuesday!

Last week of summer...

I’ve been pretty absent this weekend, and for that, I apologize. Let me fill you in a bit.

Friday I went to bed fairly early due to the fact that I had to work Saturday morning.

Saturday (as you probably caught on) I worked for 4 hours at one of our grocery store branches. It was quite possibly the easiest overtime EVER. Then I picked up the Chadillac and we went out to meet up with Kristine and some other friends to head on out to the Evergreen State Fair. We made our rounds through the animal barns (my FAVE), chowed down on some fair food (corn dogs, scones, curly fries… you know the stuff), and went out to watch the races. It was a memorial race for Kristine and Kenny’s friend who passed away a few years ago. I had never actually watched any car races before (unless you count the demolition derbies after the monster truck shows…) and I actually had a pretty good time.

Sunday, I had plans to float the river with Kristine and Kenny and two of our other friends. I was then pleasantly surprised by the fact that Chad decided to come with me! While I was ALMOST disappointed because it meant I had to share my raft, I was more excited that he surpassed a day of jet skiing to spend some quality time on the river with me. After the float, we headed back to my house (sans Chad, who had to get an hour of jet ski time in after the float) to fire up the barbecue. A good time was had by all.

Moral of the story, I was having way too much fun this weekend to blog. For those of you who have been following my blog (which you SHOULD be), you know that Chad and I haven’t been spending a whole lot of time together lately due to his attachment to his jet ski, so I was really stoked on the fact that he decided to hang out with me ALL WEEKEND. And since I am considering this the last weekend of Summer, I am glad it worked out the way it did.

That’s all for now kids, I hope you all had as good of a weekend as I did. I’ll catch you all on the flip side!!

Thirsty Thursday...?

So I’ve really REALLY been trying to whore out my blog a bit and get some more followers (it validates me spending time at work writing blog posts and makes my life feel meaningful), so I am going to link up with Amber and Neely for It’s Okay Thursday.

Its Ok Thursdays

It’s Okay… to steal clothes from your mom, even though you have always felt like you would NEVER think her clothes are cool.
It’s Okay… that I immediately change into sweats or yoga pants as soon as I get home from work.
It’s Okay… to make ramen noodles and then cover them with a made up asian sauce when you are too broke to actually buy Chinese food.
It’s Okay… to burn fall/Christmas candles year round.
It’s Okay… to have the urge to watch Zenon, Girl of the 21st Century, even at the age of 24, a good 12 years after it came out on Disney Channel.
It’s Okay… to own all the seasons of The Simple Life.
It’s Okay… to recruit your boyfriend’s friends to hang out with you when he is out of town jet skiing and your own friends all have plans.
It’s Okay… to watch Animal Cops on Animal Planet, even though it makes you want to cry.
It’s Okay… to tear up everytime one of the ASPCA commercials comes on with Sarah Mclachlan (or however you spell it) singing and it shows the sad kitties and doggies :(

That’s it for now. I’m off to try to finish reading The Lies that Chelsea Handler Told Me so I can do a Book Club review tomorrow. Wish me luck!

Harry "Pinteresting" Potter

google

Well, I am just the queen of multiple link ups these days I guess, because not only did I link up for What I’m Loving Wednesday, but now I am going to tell you about the things that I found to be Pinteresting. This week’s topic: Harry Potter!

Now, I know that some of you probably think that Harry is dorky (ahem.. I’m talking to YOU Kristine!), but I LOVE me some Harry Potter. So these are things that I decided I love.

First thing I found is this great party invitation. Paint the white balloon so it looks like an owl (more specifically Hedwig) and attach it to a scrolled invitation. Perfect for a viewing party!

Next is this onesie. Now, I don’t plan on having any babies anytime soon, nor do any of my Harry Potter loving friends. However, I do feel the need to purchase a large quantity of these in order to be prepared.

Who could go without the wise words of Dumbledore? Found this and I LOVED it. I may need to get it framed.

This… now THIS is something everybody should have. It’s a recreation of the time turner necklace that Hermione wears in the Prisoner of Azkaban.

Last but not least are these golden snitch shaped truffles. Anybody remember when Harry caught the golden snitch by accidentally swallowing it? Oh boy… this would have been a bit more enjoyable for him.

Well, now that I have embarrassed myself by letting my Harry Potter flag fly, I will leave you to explore the Pinterest world yourself!

What I Love

I have been doing Oh, How Pinteresting Wednesdays a lot lately, so I think it is time to switch it up and do a What I’m Loving Wednesday link up instead.

The first thing I am loving is that we FINALLY got some summer weather! We had a couple days this week of some rain, but overall it has been GORGEOUS! Upper 70s, sun shining… doesn’t get a whole lot better than that.

Next up on my list of excellent things this week is the fact that I am finally not caring what Chad is doing, and going about my own business. For those of you who missed my last few posts, you can catch up here. Basically, I decided after this last weekend that I am so done with sitting around waiting for him and not doing anything that I want to do. So I am loving the feeling that I can tell him what I am going to be doing, and he is either free to join me, or do whatever the hell he wants to do.

Going along with that, I am loving the fact that this weekend is going to be chock full of good times. I have to work for 4 hours on Saturday (for time and a half at pay and a half… SCORE) and then I am going to be meeting up with my BFFL Kristine to float the river (one of our favorite summer activities), followed by some good times cheering on our very own Seattle Seahawks in their next pre season game (12th man, baby!). Then, on Sunday, we will be attending the Evergreen State Fair. We LOVE fairs. The animals, the food, the booths… amazing.

Last, but not least, I am loving the fact that my sister is getting married. She is finally getting into really planning her wedding and she is e mailing me pictures of dresses, decorations, bouquets, and everything. This may not seem very strange to some of you, but my sister has always been one of those girls that is practical and has always said “I am not going to start planning until I have a ring on my finger” (unlike me who, as soon as I get that ring, will be calling my friends and saying, this is when it is, where it is, and this is what you will be wearing”). Not to mention the fact that I get to plan the bachelorette party!! WOOT WOOT!

Oh Christmas Tree

I don’t have anything particularly good to blog about right now, since the only thing I can think about is how crappy I feel right now. Because I am one of those lucky people who contracts flu like symptoms in the middle of summer. So I am going to do a Target Tuesday link up. Topic: things I am asking for on my Christmas list (that I already started…)
First off, I have one of the ever so popular Keurig coffee machines. I am the only coffee drinker at my house, so it would be really nice to be able to make coffee without having to waste ¾ of a pot.
Next is a DVD cabinet. I asked for one of these for Christmas last year, and my mom got it for me. And let me tell you, I LOVE it. It doesn’t take up a lot of space, and it holds quite a few DVDs. However, not enough for my whole collection, which is why I am asking for a second one this year.

Following the furniture trend, I am asking for a simple desk. I have three laptops, and one printer, and NO desk. It makes it a little hard to print things when I have the printer on a TV tray and I have to hold my laptop close enough to it to plug it in to the printer.
Last, but not least, is a new digital camera. My camera BASICALLY sucks. It takes about 5 shots in order to get a good picture (I promise you it isn’t operator error), so I found this super cute Nikon Coolpix camera.

That’s it for now kids.

and it keeps getting better

Well, my BFFL Kristine decided to discontinue her Monday Moanings link up, much to my disapproval. So I feel the need to just moan without her. That sounds quite inappropriate, but whatever.
Hopefully you all read my post two days ago about how much I hate my boyfriends jet ski and all the things it brings to my life. If not, please read about it here. This is my biggest moan of the weekend. Oh, add to the that the fact that he goes on these jet skiing weekends with his cousin, who is a TOTAL tool, so he always wants to get hammered and talk to "women". And Chad told me once a couple years ago that he would never cheat on me unless he was completely blacked out... sweet. Then I hear from him today that he passed out at the bar last night. Imagine my delight...
(yes, he does drive it around in the bed of his truck AT ALL TIMES)

My second moaning is about my broke ass. I got paid 3 days ago, and I am already pretty damn broke. I have a second job doing bookkeeping for this awesome lady, but I don’t get paid on a regular basis (I could if I bugged her about it, but getting paid $15 an hour working an average of 6 hours per month doesn’t really make a huge paycheck, so I let it build up for a while before I ask for a check). But, I did take the plunge and cut up both my credit cards, so that makes it a little easier for me to curb my spending habits.
No air conditioning in the bar. Not that I spend a TON of time in the bar or anything. But I went to meet some friends after they floated the river today (don’t get me started on how much I wished I was floating with them), and it was approximately 85 degrees in there. No joke. Granted I spend my time at the little div e bar in town, so I can’t expect TOO much, but a little airflow would be nice.
That’s all for now kiddos. Catch ya on the flip side. Or something…
Side note: Please go over to Kristine’s blog and harass her about taking away her Monday Moanings link up. Because it was amazing. Tell her how much of a “beach” your life can be!

*&@^&#*& Jet skis!!!!!

For those of you who don’t know, my boyfriend has this disgusting love affair with his jet ski. Like, he seriously has to spend as much time on it as possible. Every day after work, every weekend, every waking moment of daylight that isn’t taken up with work. And then, when it is dark outside, he has to talk about jet skis, and watch jet ski videos, and plan where he is going to be jet skiing next.
Which brings me to my current venting sesh. My sister and her fiancé have been planning a big family barbecue for approximately a month. We have known these plans since they day they decided to have this barbecue. Well, yesterday, Chad decided that he would be going jet skiing today with his cousin. Okay… no big deal. He said he would be at the barbecue later in the afternoon. Perfect. Well, an hour after the barbecue started, I texted him to find out when he would be there. He responds with an answer saying he wasn’t going to come at all, since they got a late start and hadn’t even gotten to the lake yet. Great. Whatever. It’s not like everybody at the barbecue was asking where he was. Oh wait, THEY WERE! Whatever.
So, I get home and I am feeling like crap from eating something icky. Or just eating too much in general, it’s hard to say. And I text Chad again, to find out when he will be home. The response I get two hours later is “tomorrow at 1”. Um, WHAT?! So I try to call him. No answer. He finally calls back and says “well, yeah… I was thinking I would just stay down here and ride in the morning and come back in the afternoon.”
Now, normally this wouldn’t really bother me that much. I can certainly appreciate a night on my own to watch whatever chick flicks I want and spread out in the middle of the bed. But I do NOT appreciate getting this news when I am expecting him home, and I am feeling like crap, and really just want someone to rub my feet and make me soup. I expressed my disapproval of this last minute planning to him, as well as my girly emotions that cause my feelings to be easily hurt when he blows me off for his damn jet ski via text, and he has promised me that he will start spending more time with me actually doing things rather than eating and sleeping. Great.
Anyways, that is my rant for the day. Hopefully all of you blogsters are having a better Saturday night than me.

Exes and Ohs

I am going to link up with Heather over at Blonde, Undercover Blonde for Book Club Friday for the first time.

I just finished reading the book Exes and Ohs by Shallon Lester. I stumbled upon this book by chance. Someone left it at my office and never came back for it, and I looked at it and thought “hey, this looks like it’s right up my alley!” This is the summary from the back:

Think your dating life sucks? Well you’re probably right. But have you ever been romantically involved with the leader of a Mafia ring? Been dumped on Valentine’s Day… two years in a row? Had a necklace custom made to read “revenge” (that you wear every day)? Sex and dating columnist turned reality-TV star Shallon Lester has.
From the time a new boyfriend found her hidden stockpile of Magnum condoms, to her near arrest for stealing (borrowing?) bacon for the homeless, to a sweaty, shoeless run-in with Ed Westwick and Chace Crawford, Lester describes the indignities she’s suffered at the hands of boyfriends, complete strangers, and just about everyone else.

The first chapter of this book had me laughing out loud and I basically didn't stop until it was over. I didn’t know what to expect when I started reading it because I had never even heard of the book or the author before. Shallon’s stories about her relationships and mishaps are all pretty much hysterical. I don’t have much else to say about the book other than that you should read it. Quickly. I give it 4.8 stars, but only because I kind of wish it all went together a little bit better. Each chapter seems to be its own story. There are references to other anecdotes throughout, but it seems that it was written as individual mini stories rather than one collective book.

That's Okay

I am linking up with Neely and Amber for my very first It’s Okay Thursday.

Its Ok Thursdays

It’s Okay….

To plan your Halloween costume for the next year a week after Halloween

To consider your dog a baby even though he is 8 years old

To like animals more than people 99.9% of the time

To re read the Harry Potter and Twilight books multiple times

To run and hide anytime you see a delivery man or Jehovah’s Witness or door to door salesman walking up the driveway

To beat your boyfriend at Guitar Hero and Mario Kart

To spend a ridiculous amount of money on a pair of jeans that fits just right

To look at both sides of your chips before you eat them

To be in love with CT from The Challenge. Because he is hot. And insane.

Oh How Pinteresting: Halloween Style

Welcome back to my blog for yet another edition of Oh, How Pinteresting Wednesday!! I think I even figured out how to make the button deal turn out right… we’ll see.

google

This week, I am going to show you some Halloween things that I have pinned. Since this summer has officially SUCKED, I am already feeling as though it is fall, which means Halloween is right around the corner.

First I have a great costume idea that I am trying to get Chad to agree to. The Skeleton Bride! I’ve never seen the movie yet (I know, I am pathetic) but I think this is a killer couple costume idea.

Next, going along with the “costume” thing, I found this picture of a girl with the BEST dia de los muertos makeup. I LOVE it.

If you are like me, you love the tradition of getting pumpkins and doing the whole carving party situation. However, that gets kind of old and messy after a while. So I found a couple other ways to do pumpkins that look a little less messy, but still really neat. The first picture is little pumpkins with black push pins in swirly designs. I think it looks super classy (since I am such a classy gal). The second picture is pumpkins that were spray painted black, and then just had designs scratched off.

This next picture is a great table set up for a Halloween dinner party. I am a HUGE fan of dinner parties, especially when they are centered around a holiday.

Last, but not least, is a mantle display. I am a big fan of Halloween parties, and I think that this would be a good one to use… especially as I am getting older and will be having parties that go more towards wine and cheese, and farther from beer kegs and cheese WHIZ.

That’s all for now. I will throw out there that I had my weekly weigh in this morning. Holding steady at 205, which isn’t TOO bad, considering the fact that I have been straying from medifast and not being able to work out due to a pesky foot injury 7 years in the making.

Monday, August 15, 2011

Hello Monday!

Well friends, I am going to link up with my BFFL Kristine for her Monday Moanings link up today. Because, believe you me, I have a LOT of moaning to do.

First off, I would like to complain about a particularly pesky limb that I have. To be more specific, I am referring to my right foot. You see, about 7 years ago or so, something happened to said foot. I don’t know exactly how it happened, but I managed to break it. This break caused the bones to start smashing the nerves between my second and third toes and my foot swelled up to the size of a softball. This was also at a time when I didn’t have my driver’s license yet (that’s right, I was one of those people who didn’t get my license until I was 18) so I had to walk two miles to work on this broken softball foot. Well, I was given the option to have surgery on it, but I graciously declined. However, now my foot pain has come back with a vengeance and I am NOT happy about it. So I may or may not end up having to have that surgery now. Great.
Next on my list is the weather. It is supposed to be summer here people. Yet, we are being plagued by overcast skies and, on many god forsaken occasions, RAIN. IN AUGUST!! What the French, toast? One of my favorite summer activities is floating the river, but that really isn’t a whole lot of fun when it is 64 degrees out and sprinkling.
Last, but not least, my diet. Or should I say, my self control. No matter how many times I look in the mirror and am barely able to stop myself from throwing up, I can’t seem to keep myself on track with good eating habits. Granted, I can’t be blamed for the type of food that people serve at their weddings/barbecues/etc, but I really need to make sure that I am not letting those ‘cheat’ days carry over once I am at home or at work preparing meals.
That’s it for now, friends. But let me just leave you with one last mini moaning - Paddington paid us a visit last night, and this is what he decided to leave as a gift for us…

To little Wylie Texas

So, I was going to link up for Oh How Pinteresting Wednesday. But then I got some sad news.
For about 3 years, Chad was living with this amazing Rottweiler named Texas. He is such a good dog (aside from some serious dog aggression and separation anxiety). Chad has always said that if Tex ever fathered a litter of puppies, he wanted one. BAD. Then, about 6 weeks ago, we got news that Tex did, in fact, impregnate a dog. A gorgeous Rhodesian Ridgeback. So, naturally, we were all over getting one. So we went, picked out a little boy, named him Wylie, and have been patiently awaiting the day we could bring him home. That day was supposed to be this Sunday.
But then today, devastation struck. The owner of the Ridgeback came in to my office and told me that the puppy has been having problems. So he took Wylie in to the vet and was told that he has hip dysplasia. At the ripe old age of 6 weeks. Surgery would be $1800 right off the bat. Followed by a lifetime of hip problems and vet bills. So they decided that it would be best to just put our little fella down.
I am so sad today, I don’t even know what to do with myself. I already had his training set up and got him a collar and leash all of his own… the tears have been falling like rain.
I must have done something awful for God to decide to punish me by killing puppies.
Our little guy Wylie... RIP little baby :*(

Hi, remember me?

Well, here is a McFatty Monday post, after a week of me being MIA from the blogosphere… my bad.
I started back up with Medifast last week and it just isn’t working out for me. I mean, the whole idea is good… eat very few calories throughout the day and then a healthy dinner and your body will go all kamikaze on the fat. However, the food really tastes like bunghole. Which makes it hard for me to bypass the delicious food from the burger joint across from my office in order to eat “vegetable beef” stew that looks like diarrhea and tastes like dog food (not that I have ever eaten dog food… except that one time as an experiment…). So I am really REALLY trying hard to stick with it, but I find myself straying. The good news about that is that when I DO stray, I tend to go to foods that really aren’t that bad for me. Like lean cuisines. And coffee. And cheese. I didn’t say that.
That’s all for now. Since I have been so absent from my blog, I better bring myself back into the scene, slowly… kind of like drugs. Wouldn’t want to overdue it.

Oh How Pinteresting

Okay, so I am a huge slacker. I realize this. I had a great post all set up for Monday. But I wrote it at work and had every intention of e mailing it to myself at home so I could add pictures and post it. But then plans changed, the apocalypse happened and it didn’t quite make it to Blogger.
But today… TODAY will be different! I am going to link up for Oh, How Pinteresting.
I have been pinning away like nobody’s business lately. Especially because I discovered how to use Polyvore and create my own dream outfits that I will never be able to afford. First is a wear to work outfit that I would LOVE to have. Of course, I would have to slim down about 5 sizes before it will look even remotely that good on me. Next is an outfit that I might wear out for a night on the town or maybe a cocktail party. Finally, we have just a casual, running around town going to lunch outfit.

My next section of pins are some funny little poster/sayings that I can’t get enough of.

Last but not least, I have a few things for my future home that I found… such as an Alice In Wonderland doorbell, a great idea to decorate a fence with flower pots, and an essential piece of shoe storage furniture.

That is it for now my loveys, but stay tuned for I will be posting soon about my Medifast progress, as well as my walking adventures with my mother (her idea to get us in shape to look smokin hot at my sister’s wedding next year).
